Ayres named new Eastside baseball coach

COVINGTON -- Finding a coach like Jon Ayres this late in the season is like finding a No. 1 draft pick in the final round.

Ayres has been a head coach for 21 years at three different schools including his last school, Golden Gate High School (Naples, Fla.). Prior to becoming a head coach, Ayres served as an assistant coach for four years.

Aside from coaching, Ayres has worked with various college camps and worked as an associate scout for the Atlanta Braves.

"I've been part of two state championship teams, one in New York and one in Florida," Ayres said. "I've worked a lot of college baseball camps over the years at Florida State, Stenson and Vanderbilt."

Even though Ayres has not had a chance to get to know any of the players or parents, he feels that if they came out in the numbers that did just to meet him the that shows a lot about their dedication and willingness to do what it takes to have a successful season.

"This is the first time I've had a chance to meet any of the players or parents. I'm looking forward to getting started with them," Ayres said. "I know they're very enthusiastic and excited. This is good evidence of it to have these many people come to this meeting to meet the new coach."

The Eagles baseball team has been to the Class AAA state championship tournament the last four years straight including making it the second round three of the last four years. Ayres, who has been made 14 region appearances in his coaching experience, knows what to do to possibly take them all the way.

"We want to concentrate on working hard and doing things right with an attention to details. We're going to do things with sportsmanship, integrity and class. We don't want to be out-hustled and we don't want to be outclassed when we're on the baseball field. I think that we have to a goal of peaking at the right time of the year. We have to play the type of schedule that will help us prepare for postseason play," Ayres said.

"I'm very excited to getting started and I'm looking forward to it."

The symptoms are: abnormal vaginal discharge (90%), abnormal bleeding (80%), usually postmenopausal and vaginal discharge (10%). The study of patients with endometrial cancer may require a history and physical and gynecological examination, followed by endometrial biopsy or dilation of the cervix with fractional curettage. It may require an invasive procedure or minor surgery to establish the extent and degree of myometrial invasion or determine the staging. You have to take samples of peritoneal fluid, to explore the abdomen and pelvis, and perform a pelvic lymphadenectomy. As of today, around 74% of the patients are in stage I, 13% in stage II, 9% stage III, and 3% stage IV.

Patients whose cancer is only confined in the ovary and fallopian tubes, outcome with this treatment is quite high (80% uterine cancer survival rate at five years). Other stage III patients with a tumor spread beyond the Annexes and those with serous endometrial carcinoma have a significantly worse prognosis (uterine cancer survival rate of 15% at five years).
